Tip: Check for any activities going on downtown that may interfere with tour. Comicon prevented us from seeing Gaslamp District...

We took the City Tour on our first day in San Diego. We loved it. All of the drivers were nice and informative. We hopped off at Coronado. We walked through the hotel and then walked some on the sidewalk enjoying the views of the beach. Then we walked down to the water. We then rode the Trolley to Balboa Park. Ate at a little cafe there and walked around enjoying the architecture. We caught the trolley again and rode back to the start in Old Town. Since we were staying nearby, we didn't need to spend time there. We decided to ride the Trolley around again. This was the only negative part of our day. I had my ticket confirmation on my cellphone which was almost dead from taking so many pictures. We were told we had to exit one trolley and take another. Even though we had just exited one trolley and were wearing our stickers, Rik insisted on seeing my phone confirmation. I prayed my phone would turn back on. Once on board another adventure began. We exited at Seaport Village and were told the last pick up from there would be in 30 minutes. Alex was the driver on the last leg of our trip. From that point on, it was a comedy act with all of the passengers involved. He absolutely made our day. I will never forget the fun we had with him. Plus it was like a private tour with only a few of us stragglers on board. On top of it all, it was late enough in the day to catch the sunset in Coronado and see the city lit up. Praise for the Old Town Trolley. Best to have a paper ticket though to please Rik. .

Easy ticket reservation on line with a really nice chat service for questions. We took the City tour. I thought this would be a n effective way to see multiple areas without worrying about driving and parking. It was a decent idea but not completely thought out. The “stops” are not always clearly marked so that you know precisely where to be for a trolley pick up. Drivers will not stop or acknowledge you if you are not at the precise pick up spot. There is a schedule for pick ups that is a little loose depending on traffic and the drivers mood. One blond female driver drove past stops all the time with an empty trolley then we would see her parked on a street with the trolley still empty. Frustrations with waiting on trolleys made this something I will not do again.

This is a great overview of San Diego. You can hop on/hop off at any of the stops. It really puts all the San Diego neighborhoods into perspective. It's a little expensive but worth the price.

The trolley picked us up not far from our hotel and we had already decided which stops we wanted to visit. I would recommend doing the same thing, this trolley tour is lengthy and if you don’t get off the first time around you might not have time to see the sights you desire. We got off at the Coronado stop. The beautiful Hotel Del is worth the time to see. We also enjoyed walking down the beach and around the quaint little town. Our next stop was Balboa Park. Our trolley driver gave us great information about where to eat lunch in the park and about attractions in the park. Free organ concerts are offered every Sunday. Our time was up after those two stops, I’d suggest a two day pass if you have the time. We were thankful the trolley took us back to our hotel stop even though our trolley didn’t make it back to the transfer point until after the designated time! Great way to see the sights if you don’t have a car!

My wife and I recently visited San Diego with friends. We decided to take the Trolley Tour with options to hop on and off at various places throughout the city. The tour guide drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly. We got off and on at several locations and ended up learning a great deal about the city and it’s history. We would highly recommend this tour as a great way to see San Diego.

How long does the tour last?
It lasts two hours if you don’t get off. Otherwise, make an entire day of the hop-on, hop-off tour with 11 different stops in San Diego and Coronado. You may hop on and off at any one of our convenient stops throughout the entire day. Depending on your start time, you may also use your ticket to enjoy your tour in segments by hopping off at one or two of our distinctive stops on the loop. The number of stops you can explore in one day depends on the time of year that you are touring and the amount of time you have on the day of your tour.

If you wish to stay on board your trolley and enjoy our fascinating narrative presenting a great overview of “America’s Finest City” without hopping on and off, the entire loop takes approximately two hours.

What time do the tours start?
The Old Town Trolley Tour begins every day (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) at 9:00 am at the Old Town Depot; however, you can begin your tour at any of our stops. Please note: Each stop has a different starting time.

How often do trolleys come to each stop?
Our trolleys come by approximately every 30 minutes, though times may vary slightly due to traffic conditions and city events. Depending on demand, the time of year, day of the week, and time of day, our in-field dispatchers often put more trolleys in the tour loop at an increased frequency. We are San Diego's most popular tour, and during peak times, we cannot guarantee that each trolley will have available seats.

Are your trolleys wheelchair accessible?
Please allow 24-hour advance notice to arrange for wheelchair accessibility. We will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.

How do I get to Old Town?
