Sitting at the stop waiting for the next trolley because the 10:25 left at 10:20. What a difference 5 minutes can make.

Tip: The times are squishy so be ready to spend time sitting on benches waiting either because you have to show up early to make sure you dont miss it or you show up on time only to realize you missed it.

"Great comfortable buses with excellent knowledgeable drivers"

This was very good experience which we used on day 2 of our day in San Diego. I researched the cost of the tickets both on Groupon and the Official website and Groupon is actually more expensive, beware! We made the use of two drivers throughout the course of the day and both were excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly and very humorous. Buses run every 20 mins and the complete tour lasts about 2hrs. By completing the tour you get a very good idea of the history and layout of the city. Can highly recommend but buy your tickets online for the discount

I really wanted to leave a five star rating for this tour, because I think it could be very good, but my tour guide "Alex" ruined that. First, I was traveling alone and boarded the bus at Old Town. I stayed on the same bus for the full 2 hr tour...no hop offs at any stop, so I was with the same guide the entire time. At no time was our bus more than half full, in fact it was probably less than half full. Despite the fact that I boarded alone, sat alone in my seat, and introduced myself alone, "Alex" made several remarks on the tour which insinuated that another solo tourist on board was my husband. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable for both of us. I felt this was unprofessional and unnecessary. Toward the end of our trip, after leaving Balboa Park, I received two phone calls from my family back East. My phone did not ring aloud...it was set to vibrate. I did not answer. I then received a text message that read "CALL HOME ASAP...EMERGENCY". With no one sitting beside me, in front of me, nor behind me...I quietly made the phone call home to learn of the sudden death of my niece. I spoke quietly and interrupted no one; however, "Alex" proceeded to go on a loud rant about how "Indiana" could not read and was breaking rule #1. I ended my call...but he proceeded to go on and on about it. I get it...I broke a rule with a 3 minute phone call that disturbed no one. My apologies! Overall, the tour is good...the city is beautiful and the price is reasonable. Too bad one over zealous tour guide couldn't act a bit more professional and courteous to his customers. Keep taking your Omega pills and watching cable, Alex! Maybe you'll learn to be a little less rude.

Our tour guide was Doug. He was amazing. He was very personable; knowledgeable and an all around nice guy. He was a very attentive and a safe driver and you have to be driving all over the city. The trolley was comfortable and clean and really fun to ride in.

"Best tour we have ever taken"

Our first visit to San Diego and a tour of the city is a must for us to get a feel for the place. We were looking for a hop on hop off bus but couldn’t find the stop, we did however see the trolley tour vehicles and thought they were quirky so thought we would give it a go. We are so glad we joined this tour, 2 hours around the city with a live commentary from the driver. This was superb because they really bring their personalities to the commentary. Fun as well as informative. This is definitely the best city tour I have taken and I have been on a lot. We really felt we saw the best of San Diego and the tour made us love the place even more. Coronado Bridge was stunning, albeit my fear of heights was tested but well worth it to se Coronado. The old town was fantastic and the Italian quarter very interesting. Highly recommend this tour and at $40 each we thought it was exceptional value for money. Well done to the excellent tour drivers who gave the amazing commentaries.

Frequently Asked Questions about Old Town Trolley Hop-on Hop-off Sightseeing Tour

How long does the tour last?
It lasts two hours if you don’t get off. Otherwise, make an entire day of the hop-on, hop-off tour with 11 different stops in San Diego and Coronado. You may hop on and off at any one of our convenient stops throughout the entire day. Depending on your start time, you may also use your ticket to enjoy your tour in segments by hopping off at one or two of our distinctive stops on the loop. The number of stops you can explore in one day depends on the time of year that you are touring and the amount of time you have on the day of your tour.

If you wish to stay on board your trolley and enjoy our fascinating narrative presenting a great overview of “America’s Finest City” without hopping on and off, the entire loop takes approximately two hours.

What time do the tours start?
The Old Town Trolley Tour begins every day (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) at 9:00 am at the Old Town Depot; however, you can begin your tour at any of our stops. Please note: Each stop has a different starting time.

We are San Diego's most popular tour, and during peak times, we cannot guarantee that each trolley will have available seats.

Are your trolleys wheelchair accessible?
Please allow 24-hour advance notice to arrange for wheelchair accessibility. We will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.

How do I get to Old Town?
