Tip: Check for any activities going on downtown that may interfere with tour. Comicon prevented us from seeing Gaslamp District...

We used this novelty to get an overall picture of san diego. We travelled from the cruise terminal to downtown where everyone has to get off. The first one was led by Capt Bob. Obviously a character. He certainly knew his stuff and gave a very lively tour. We boarded another bus for the return. Still good information but a slightly calmer driver. Good value for money.

"Easing into vacation"

Hubs likes to start vacation in big cities with a tour bus ride to get the lay of the land, and Old Town Trolley offers an all encompassing hop on hop off tour of San Diego and Coronado with 10 stops altogether. The tour guides were awesome - funny and informative. We took the advice of our concierge and just bought a one day trolley pass. We got off the trolley a couple times (Coronado & Old Town) but did the whole route and went back to the stops we wanted to revisit another day with Uber or public transportation which was more cost effective. We definitely recommend Old Town Trolleys.

"Great way to see the main spots in San Diego"

We decided to not rent a car and figured this was a great way to see some of the major areas of San Diego (other than just ubering it everywhere). Our first driver, alex was awesome! Very entertaining! Since the trolley ends at 5pm and we started a bit later in the afternoon, we didn't have too much time, so decided to stay on until the Coronado Stop where we got off to enjoy some food/drinks and then got back on for the last pick up at 4pm and then got off at the Little Italy stop where we checked out the Ballast Point Brewery and then just ubered our way back to dinner/hotel. Would recommend for anyone visiting San Diego. They do have option where you can buy pass for 1 day or 2 days, but we opted for the 1 day. We saved a few dollars by purchasing via our concierge at hotel, but believe you can do the same online as well.

"Very informative and entertaining tour. "

Jon was our driver/guide. He was full of personality and humour. The tour took about two hours and gave us a good all round informative summary of the city, so we now know where to go on other days. The tour has a hop on hop off format. We purchased a two day ticket so when we do it on the second day we will spend most of the day alighting in some of the stops to spend time there. Thoroughly recommend this tour. It starts from the Old Town. Buses leave every half hour.

"A Great Overview of San Diego!"

I have been to San Diego many times but it had been a while and I wanted to get a quick refresher. The tour people were entertaining and helpful! The ride on the trolly was not comfortable so make sure you get off once in a while to give yourself a break. I stopped at Coronado, Little Italy and Old Town. It took a whole day but it was a great way to get a great overview.

Frequently Asked Questions about Old Town Trolley Hop-on Hop-off Sightseeing Tour

How long does the tour last?
It lasts two hours if you don’t get off. Otherwise, make an entire day of the hop-on, hop-off tour with 11 different stops in San Diego and Coronado. You may hop on and off at any one of our convenient stops throughout the entire day. Depending on your start time, you may also use your ticket to enjoy your tour in segments by hopping off at one or two of our distinctive stops on the loop. The number of stops you can explore in one day depends on the time of year that you are touring and the amount of time you have on the day of your tour.

If you wish to stay on board your trolley and enjoy our fascinating narrative presenting a great overview of “America’s Finest City” without hopping on and off, the entire loop takes approximately two hours.

What time do the tours start?
The Old Town Trolley Tour begins every day (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) at 9:00 am at the Old Town Depot; however, you can begin your tour at any of our stops. Please note: Each stop has a different starting time.

How often do trolleys come to each stop?
Our trolleys come by approximately every 30 minutes, though times may vary slightly due to traffic conditions and city events. Depending on demand, the time of year, day of the week, and time of day, our in-field dispatchers often put more trolleys in the tour loop at an increased frequency. We are San Diego's most popular tour, and during peak times, we cannot guarantee that each trolley will have available seats.

Are your trolleys wheelchair accessible?
Please allow 24-hour advance notice to arrange for wheelchair accessibility. We will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.

How do I get to Old Town?
Our Old Town Trolley Depot is located at the Old Town Market on 4010 Twiggs Street and San Diego Avenue in the heart of Old Town San Diego, the Birthplace of California about a four minute drive from the "Old Town Exit" on Interstate 5. Public transportation and parking are available at this stop.

What is the last tour of the day?
The last tour of the day varies depending on the depot that you are starting from, the time of year, the day of the week, and any citywide events in town. Please refer directly to Old Town’s tour schedule.

Where do I park?
Convenient parking can be found near any of our trolley depots. Free parking is located in the lot directly across from the Old Town Market Depot on 4010 Twiggs Street.

Can I bring my stroller on board the trolley?
Yes, we can accommodate strollers but they must be collapsible and will be stored up front with the conductor. Strollers in the aisle ways would constitute a safety hazard.

Are the trolleys heated?
No.

Are dogs allowed on your trolleys?
Assistance animals, such as seeing-eye dogs, are the only animals that are allowed on board the trolleys.

Where can babies or toddlers ride on the trolley?
