"Great way to see the harbor~"
September, 2016
This is a great dinner cruise and the food is actually good! I went with two of my friends and would say this cruise is a must for couples or families. We each ordered a different meal and shared, the fish is certainly the best and steak being my second choice. They have an open cash bar for alcoholic drinks and a DJ the night we went. The views of the harbor and sunset were beautiful. The night lights of downtown San Diego was really fun, I would suggest wearing a light jacket as it gets cold once the sun goes down.

"Whale Watching "

I went on a Flagship whale watching cruise with the Birch Aquarium. The onboard naturalist and docents were very knowledgeable and friendly. The captain warned us of a 3 foot swell and recommended Dramamine if we thought we might get sick (on sale for $3). The boat officers were very helpful to several people who did not take this advice and felt seasick in the slightly choppy water. I went for the migration of the gray whales. Unfortunately, we didn't see any...did see some sea lions though. They did provide a voucher to go again for free though, which I thought was a nice gesture (albeit a bit impractical for visitors). I would have preferred a voucher to the aquarium. Ultimately, worth the $40 and 3.5 hours. Parking at the dock is tricky. I parked on a side street and found a great farmers' market for pre-cruise coffee and, later, lunch. Also, note that I shopped around online a bit and found a 10% discount code for this.

I enjoyed the tour up the river. It went past the docks with all the naval ships and the guide explained what type they were. I was surprised how many there were to see. It was well run. The guide was good. Also going under the big bridge was also interesting. Well worth the time.

"A Very nice water tour"

We took the 2 hour tour which is the upper & lower parts of the harbor. The boat goes in one direction for an hour then docks to let the 1 hr. passengers off and you stay on for the 2nd hour. We were on the 11:15am tour and it went south first which was more interesting than the north tour. All in all it was very informative and interesting. The commentator was very good on the Spirt of San Diego. This boat had 2 bars (level 2 & 3) and 4 hands on board. The snacks (chips & muffins) & sodas were $2.50. We went in mid Oct. temps were mid 80's and quite comfortable on the top deck, rear and front. It was a little warm inside unless near a door to catch the breeze. The naval ship port on the south cruise is amazing.

"Typical but a pleasant break from 🚶ing in the heat"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed October 16, 2017
It was ninety degrees out and we were hot and tired from exploring the Midway (so worth it) so we used our Groupon buy and got two 2 hour harbor cruises for one as an easy afternoon activity. I had read reviews of folks coming from complaining about the on board drink prices. We got soft drinks and held onto the cups for free refills. $2.50 was a bargain as we refilled a couple of times in the heat. The tour is pleasant, the breeze was nice, harbor is beautiful but there is not a whole lot to see. It is a nice easy activity when you are hot and tired. Good after either the Maritime museum or the Midway, but buy tickets thru Groupon for best value.
