"More like a motel"

I chose to stay at this location as I was attending an event at the convention center. I wanted to stay here the night before so that I could be close to the area were I was to set up my stuff. Upon arrival there was only one person in the lobby checking in and I waited about 20 minutes to get my room key. Once going to my room my key then did not work and I had to go back to the lobby for a new key. In the room it was musty and smelled like wet towels. I had to leave the front door open for an hour to get the smell out. The beds were uncomfortable, there was no fridge to store my food, and the bathroom sink was to small. I ordered in room dining for breakfast and the meal was EXTREMLY sweet, coffee ordered was incorrect, and they charged me in advance when I booked requiring a refund that I have to wait for. Over all I will not pay to stay in a place like this again. While the landscape is beautiful the service and amenities do no live up to the cost.

"After 45 years I came back."

I have not stayed at this motel for over 45 years, so when my group used this convention center I naturally booked a Garden Room which is an original part of the motel. The room was remodeled, well kept and quiet, 2 queen beds with lots of clothes storage for unpacking everything. Located on the first floor, entrance from the garden/patio area, it was an easy walk to any restaurant or the convention center. These older rooms have all the necessities except a refrigerator. Others in our group had them in the newer sections. But going out for ice with your bucket is the nostalgia I enjoy. Both the hotel and it's attached convention center worked well for us and my stay was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is in "Hotel Circle" on Interstate 8 and is central to all major attractions including the San Diego Convention Center and to Padres baseball at Petco Park next to the Gas Lamp District.

"Not "resort" quality"

We stayed here because we got a good deal, but we otherwise would not have chosen it. Our room (not in a tower) did not seem remodeled. The walls and carpets were dirty, the pillows were quite flat, and there were no curtains on the window. It looks much more like a motel than a resort. The outside looks like it hasn't been updated since 1960, and there were no elevators to the 2nd floor. There was never anyone in the pool, but it looked nice. It was creepy to walk around outside at night, especially when I had to go looking for a vending machine. Thankfully we didn't find many bugs.

"Convention Parking Attendant Knows Her Stuff"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

I went to the Town and Country to attend the Knights of Columbus State Convention, but did not stay in the Resort. I was running late and have never been to the Convention Center. When I pulled up to the attendant's booth, I was assisted by Olga in getting my ticket. She had a beautiful smile and was eager to answer my questions, maybe perceiving my haste. I asked her advice on where to park closest to my destination. I followed her instructions and I was able to park, go up a flight of stairs and into the ballroom with moments to spare. If not for her help, I would've been late and possibly forced to wait until the break. Olga is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly to say the least. She should be commended and given a big bonus or a raise! Thank you, Olga!

"Great service! "

We arrived in town at 3 o'clock to check in and we were helped by a gentleman named Ariel he was very courteous, helpful and friendly. He told us how this property was on 40 acres making its own little Paradise. He upgraded our room for a small charge to the newly renovated royal palm tower and went on to tell us about the $80 million renovation that is about to start. We made our reservation online and had no real idea what to expect. The grounds are well-kept the rooms were newly renovated and very nice the service was fantastic and overall was a very pleasant experience! We will definitely be staying here the next time we come to San Diego.
