Location of this hotel & the service were both excellent. My husband & I really enjoyed our quick weekend getaway & stay at this hotel to meet up with friends in San Diego. It was fun having drinks up on the rooftop bar after dinner, even though last call was at 10:30pm. This seemed early for a Saturday night, but probably just not enough business to keep it open, but noticed that room service also ended at 10:30pm in the evening as well. Loved that our bathroom had liquid hand soap available for us to use in our room. There was also great smelling, full sized products of body wash, shampoo & conditioner to use in the shower. Thought the robes were kind of dingy looking since they were made of cotton (similar to t-shirt fabric) and definitely not the typical hotel/spa like quality. There is a convenient safe in the closet to store your valuables. The overall ambience of the hotel was very pleasant and welcoming. The customer service we received from everyone seemed to be very sincere, which is always a wonderful way to be treated.

We picked this hotel for my daughter's Wedding for the place for people to stay, great location, cool bar and pool on roof. Rooms were very average, bed was comfy enough, prices were OK. Lots of fun on the roof, with games, bar, cabana's and of course the pool with cool city views

We stayed for a quick four-day getaway last fall and we're counting down the days to our next stay. The location was great... super walkable to many restaurants, shops and bars. Great proximity to the ballpark to catch a game. Valet is expensive so we used the Park It on Market garage a couple blocks down. Love that we could check out bikes for free. The pool area is great with a fun little bar and corn hole. Staff was super helpful and courteous. Complimentary evening happy hour and morning coffee bar are a great touch. Looking forward to spending another getaway here next month for our anniversary.

the Location is great as only 10 minutes walk from the water and the bars and restaurants are on the hotel doorstep. The room was spacious and the pool bar was lovely after a day of walking about the city.

We were in San Diego for a conference, and stayed at Solamar for a full week. The hotel is in a fabulous location in the heart of the Gas Lamp District. Everything is in easy walking distance including the San Diego Convention Center. We found the hotel warm and welcoming and the room comfortable and well appointed. Every team member with whom we interacted was professional and helpful. Plus they are dog friendly which helped me miss my two pups a little less. The hotel has a marvelous coffee bar in the lobby every morning, and there was a complimentary beer and wine event on Saturday evening. The pool area is wonderful with a variety of seating options, games, and a bar with delicious food offerings. I can recommend the calamari salad and the tuna ceviche. The one thing that bothered me a bit was a few signs of of obvious wear with things that could have been easily repaired. The Roman shade had a large rip, and one of our towels had a large tear. Housekeeping left us without bar soap and hand towels, and the bathroom sink remained slow to drain despite our notifying the front desk. There was what appeared to be a makeup smudge on the elevator mirror which remained for two days. Attention to these small items would certainly bump my rating to five stars as I loved everything else about Hotel Solamar.
