It has been a great stay right in the heart of San Diego. The breakfast is very good. I like there is a choice of buffet or regular menu. The dinning area is open till 10-11pm. The area is pretty safe. If you rent a car there is a $50 charge but it is worth it

"Great location"

Loved the location. Close to harbor walk, tram system & Petco. Lots of restaurants within walking distance (as in two or three blocks). Our room was spacious & bed was comfortable. Common areas were modern. Bar/restaurant looked pretty minimal although with so many other options nearby we just walked past the hotel’s restaurant. Exercise room was small with only two ellipticals and two treadmills. A small set of weights. Too bad the hotel does not have a hot tub.

4 day stay mid December for a conference. Nice and close to the convention center and the Gas Lamp quarter. Unique stores and restaurants within walking distance. No beaches close by. The hotel: starting to show its age, furniture a little banged up, rust in the bathtub, peeling wallpaper. Air conditioner broke down on the second day but staff fixed while we were out for supper. Wired and wireless internet ONLY free if you sign up for Hilton Honors program. Doesn’t cost anything but have to give up your email address. No guide to hotel amenities only a menu for in room ordering. No included breakfast which was surprising for a hotel in this price range.

"Trains, Boat Horns and Sewer Gas"

This has to be one of the noisiest hotels I've ever stayed in. The property is adjacent to two train tracks (freight train and a commuter train). Trains stopping/starting sound like car wrecks happening. The freight train stopped for about an hour while the railroad crossing **BELLS** sounded the whole time (it's 3am!!)

"Worst Hilton I’ve been to"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed December 13, 2018 NEW
Don’t waste your money here. I am a Gold HH member and have stayed at MANY of their hotels and this is by far the worst one. Definitely not up to the Hilton standard I’m used to. My biggest complaint is the noise from the freight trains just outside my window. It was so loud at 2:30am that I ran to the window thinking it was some sort of tank firing a cannon! I requested a room change first thing in the morning as I was too exhausted from a day traveling to deal with it in the middle of the night. The front desk help calmly offered a choice of 2 rooms: one floor down and only 2 rooms farther from the train track or 5 floors up at the corner right over the train tracks. Ridiculous! I wanted a room in the other side of the building so I wouldn’t hear the train at all! If you are hard of hearing, are a dead-to-the-world sleeper or plan on getting so drunk you’ll pass out, this is the hotel for you. But if you plan to need restful sleep, avoid this location! There are plenty of other choices.
